Autumn Formation Day

Walking Together: Group Discernment, Conversations in the Spirit and Synodality

Speaker: Catriona Fletcher, Director of Ignatian Spirituality Centre, Glasgow

Saturday 19th September, 10am—3.30pm on Zoom

Cost: £20/£25/£30*

‘Synodality’ has become a buzzword in the Roman Catholic Church in recent years. Pope Francis (a Jesuit) was offering the Church a way of discerning in common, a way of helping a group or community to listen to the Spirit and to one another. This is the wisdom modelled by the community in Acts who concluded their discernment saying “it seems good to the Holy Spirit and to us”.

This day offers an opportunity to learn about applying Ignatian principles to working with groups, whether to take up the Church’s invitation to explore synodality or to support the communities we are part of. We are delighted to welcome back as facilitator Catriona Fletcher, director of ISC, who is helping to take synodality forward in Scotland.

The day will include some background to synodal processes and communal discernment, an experience of Conversation in the Spirit and some time to reflect on how this way of proceeding could be useful to our work and mission.
