Annual Conference

Fri-Sun 14-16 November 2008

Friday evening – Sunday lunchtime

Annual residential conference open to those interested in Ignatian Spirituality at the Pastoral Centre, Dundee.

Choosing Christ in the world

Reflecting on a just world through Ignatian Spirituality

Speaker/facilitator Miriam McHardy

This weekend will take the theme of justice and spirituality, in particular, how Ignatian Spirituality can support individuals in their response to issues of injustice and other challenges of our world.

The weekend will encourage participants to reflect on their own experiences and knowledge of injustice and, with reference to Ignatian Spirituality, consider how to respond in a way that is authentic with their values and faith. The weekend assumes a knowledge of Ignatian Spirituality.

Miriam McHardy has worked as Campaigns Officer for the Catholic Development agency Trocaire in Ireland, and in Scotland as Youth Officer for SCIAF.  In both agencies she has been concerned to encourage people to be involved in Social Justice as
an outcome of their faith.

More recently she has worked with the Centre for Theology and Public Issues at the University of Edinburgh, where she has been involved in research into your people’s attitudes to human rights and religion.

Her own Masters research examined how involvement in social justice can have a positive influence on people’s faith. She also practices as a trained spiritual director.

Mirian is married with 2 young children.

The conference is open both to members of the Epiphany Group and non-members.. There are 40 places available – 20 residential in the Centre, and 20 non-residential.
